Buy Everyone A Boat

It's a fair question, actually, to ask why the government keeps spending millions to fix Highway 12, the road that runs along the Outer Banks of North Carolina. After all, it washes out in every hurricane, floods all the time, and everyone hates it. And it seems to make more sense to build bridges in the bad parts, or replace the road with a series of ferries. A 17-mile bridge favored by environmentalists would cost a billion, but would be cheaper in the long run than continually repairing the road, which is what we're doing. (AP via MSNBC)
