This Violates A Code Of Ethics They Haven't Yet Determined

You know those hidden-camera commercials like Folgers had where people sit down for a gourmet restaurant meal and something's switched out with a commercial supermarket item? ConAgra tried doing that by inviting food bloggers for a special meal, then serving them frozen Marie Callender's food. But the reaction wasn't the happy surprise they were shooting for. No, the bloggers were angry, really angry, so angry that the commercial footage was unusable. But I blame the bloggers, too. If you pride yourself on being impartial and above-board, you shouldn't be accepting stuff like free meals unless it's set up as a specific review opportunity, which this wasn't. It's not that bloggers can't be bought, it's the price that's in dispute. (New York Times)
