For years, the Puerto Rico-based Banco Popular has had branches in the New York area and other big cities, but they think they've suffered from a stigma that they're only for Spanish-speaking customers. And that's why they've anglicized the name in some markets to "Popular Community Bank." Does a foreign-sounding name really keep people away from a business? (Los Angeles Times)
