Managing To Make Even The Yankees Look Sympathetic
-
The Yankees' Triple A affiliate needs a temporary home while the stadium in Scranton (actually, Moosic) gets radically remodeled, so the Yankees struck a deal with Newark, which has a stadium that might be empty next season. It was just a temporary, one-year deal. And all they needed was approval from the Mets for territorial purposes, and offered permanent, perpetual approval for any similar moves by the Mets, yet the Mets blocked it. Why? They won't say. This wasn't a problem when the Mets wanted to put a minor league team in Brooklyn and the Yankees in Staten Island, so why now? How petty was that? A team in Newark was going to impact the Mets? It's more likely they'd have taken from the Yankees. (Newark Star-Ledger)
