Okay, We've Collected It. Now What Do We Do With It?
-
Many towns annually face the problem of too much Canada goose poop. We've had countless articles here over the years about towns grappling with the problem, generally about killing the geese to stop the green piles from accumulating. But Saranac Lake, NY, where school athletic fields became unplayable from the poop, has come up with a solution that the school groundskeepers discovered being used in British Columbia: an industrial sized-and-strength goose pooper scooper. it's like a giant Zamboni that scoops the poop into a hopper. A used version cost them under $10,000. That's actually a bargain. They say it works very well. I've lived in towns in Pennsylvania and New Jersey where they could use one of those.
