A Great Place To Protest, Then Grab A Bite At A Chain Restaurant
-
Here's a look at some of the action at the Occupy protest at Times Square. Despite a lot of heated rhetoric about clashes with police and closing down the area, the number of arrests wasn't that high and things were kept generally under control, which isn't a bad thing to say about the protestors or the police. But it still seems like the protests are all over the ballpark topic-wise, with some demanding an end to capitalism (see the guy in the Che t-shirt and the content of a lot of the signs), some demanding to know what to do about their student loan debt (one guy's shown complaining about $150,000 in debt, but the sign also notes he got three degrees- who told him THAT was a good idea?), and others joining in dance circles with, yes, bongos. There's reason to be upset with Wall Street, but more reason to be upset with government and many more issues that neither can control, like the changes wrought by technology and international commerce that can't be stopped and can't be "fixed."
