Saturday had Occupy protests all over the world, including some violence in Rome. And, yes, the economy IS a reason to get pissed off and demonstrate, but does a majority want what it seems a lot of protestors want, namely to move towards punishing corporations and the rich who, you know, employ everyone? There are inequities that are, on the face of it, unfair, like CEO pay, but what's the solution? Do we want to regulate everyone's salary? And if we do, what do you think YOU'LL be paid for what YOU do? (There's also a surprising amount of anti-Semitism rearing its ugly head at the protests and in commentary about them -- I saw one Internet commenter talking about punishing the "hook-nosed" villains, and nothing but support for that position from his compatriots) (New York Times)
