Siri, Do My Homework

It's true that the young generations of today are the first to grow up digital -- they're growing up with smart phones and tablets and computers, much like previous generations grew up with calculators, and my generation grew up with not much in the way of technology. Is this a good thing? Nobody really knows; it's kind of an experiment. I think in some ways it's great, because the world's knowledge, as well as a lot of disinformation on Wikipedia, is available to kids at any time. But it can't be a good thing that generations are growing up not knowing simple mathematics because they just use calculators to do the job. Kids aren't using handwriting or reading actual books, either. Whether these things are examples of problems or are just irrelevant remains to be determined. (Boston Globe)
