I've never found Halloween haunted houses and other attractions all that scary. I've gone to several of them, and I spend a lot of time just looking around at the way the place has been put together, and offering a cheery welcome to the minimum wage teenagers in bad makeup popping out of the woodwork or dropping from the ceiling to "scare" us. But I'm not in the majority on that. And that's why there's this article about haunted houses having to determine whether they're being too scary for the public. There have been incidents where people have been injured when trying to run away from something that scared them in these places. I don't know how you deal with people who, knowing that they're in a haunted house and knowing that it's fictional, still react as if it's real. Do these places scare you? (Detroit news)
