No Saab? What Will College Professors Drive Now?
-
It's interesting to see what's happened to Saab and Volvo, to companies that were, for a long time, almost identical in their fortunes. They later got sold to American automotive giants, and that's when things change. Volvo ended up with Ford, which kept it going fairly well, then sold it to a Chinese company. They're doing well now. Meanwhile, Saab, which was bought and sold by General Motors, is sitting in limbo, not making cars, waiting for an angel to come along and save it. The combination of mismanagement, neglect, and bad luck may sink the venerable brand. But it wasn't always that way. (New York Times)
