Sometimes, Blissfully Unaware Is The Way To Go
-
This weekend, there were several stories about how doctors are starting to come to the conclusion that maybe it's not a good idea to do a lot of tests for early detection of cancer. That's because, in some cases, especially for things like prostate cancer, the treatment might be worse than just living with the disease. Doctors, including some who suffer from the disease themselves, are now thinking that a man can live with prostate cancer for about the same amount of time whether treated or not, but with the treatment, the side effects, including impotency and incontinence, make the quality of life suffer. Apparently, not everything needs to be cured. (Minneapolis Star-Tribune)
