It's astonishing, and that's an understatement, that former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, long assumed to be heir apparent to Joe Paterno and founder of a prominent children's charity, could have gotten away for years with alleged child rape, but when the athletic director and other school administrators allegedly know about it and cover it up, I guess that's how you get away with it. The charges involve eight children. Paterno was told about it and told someone in turn, but not the cops, which is also inexcusable. And you can bet that the campus apologists will follow their denials with excuses. (Centre Daily Times)
