Would Sending 'Don't Do It' By Direct Message Work?

What would you do if someone you follow on Twitter hinted quite broadly that she intended to commit suicide? Nobody did anything in the case of this 18-year-old, despite 144 tweets over six hours that increasingly voiced distress over being molested and being unable to convince investigators to believe her. She was pretty upfront about her desire to kill herself, and her last tweet was "Take two. I hope I get this right," a reference to a failed previous attempt. So she did kill herself. Could one of her followers have helped? (New York Post)
