A study ranks the top sports to wreck your knees, and there are no surprises: soccer tops the list, followed by competitive long-distance running, weightlifting, and wrestling. Those sports, according to the study, increase the risk of osteoarthritis. Basketball, boxing, cross-country skiing, ice hockey, something called "orienteering," shooting, throwing, and track, on the other hand, and don't show increased risk. And the bottom line is that if you don't carry too much weight, you should be okay no matter what. If you're overweight, your knees are taking a beating. But you didn't need a study to know that.
