If 'Small Wonder' Didn't Kill Off Comedy, Nothing Will
-
This critic thinks that far from being a renaissance period for the TV sitcom, we've reached the End of Comedy, because, in his estimation, all the new sitcoms suck and are just bad versions of old sitcoms with penis and vagina jokes inserted. But he fixates on only a small handful of sitcoms, conveniently ignoring the fact that we ARE in a renaissance period for the art. I mean, not one mention of "Community," "Modern Family," "Parks and Recreation," "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Louie," and on and on and on. Yeah, so "Whitney" and "Last Man Standing" and "2 Broke Girls" aren't very good. There are more great sitcoms on now than perhaps ever before. (New York Times)
