Some Things Have No Statute Of Limitations

Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), chair of the House Foreign Relations Committee, is pressuring NPR and CNBC to reject underwriting and ads for Allianz, the insurer, which collaborated with the Nazis and never paid reparations to Jews it ripped off during the war by sending money owed to them to the Nazis instead. It also insured the concentration camps. For its part, Allianz says it's worked through an international claims commission to pay some of the survivors, but here's the thing: They've paid about $250 million when it's estimated that it and some other companies actually owe a present value of $18 BILLION. Has the window closed or can it ever really close? (Miami Herald)
