They Could Also Just Charge Less For Stuff

Some stores, like a camera shop in Sydney, are charging shoppers to check out the merchandise, like a $30 "explanation fee" if you want the clerk to give advice and show you how a model works. Why? Because they're tired of people constantly coming in, spending a lot of time checking out the merchandise, and then going home and buying it cheaper online. You know you do that. And with apps like Google Shopper and the Amazon app, people are scanning bar codes and finding better prices. Brick-and-mortar retailers have had more than enough of this. Whether charging a lot for what used to be free will be accepted or, more likely, drive customers away is a question I suppose we'll see answered in due course. (Sydney Morning Herald)
