This article is about the 50th anniversary and restoration of a classic, iconic neon sign at a pizza joint in Knoxville, and it's a reminder that stuff like neon signs can be as historic and artistic as something actually intended as "art." In fact, there was a sign not far from here in Redondo Beach for a long-gone restaurant that was kept standing for decades because people liked it (see it here). There are programs to save and preserve signs like these, and, well, yeah, there should be. They're part of our culture.
