Screw Up, Get Rich. How Come I Can't Get That Kind Of Deal?
-
The chief of the Los Angeles Housing Authority did such a poor job, and his department was so corrupt, that they bought out his contract to get rid of him. How much did they have to pay? How about $1.2 million? Why did they have to give him so much money? Because they handed this guy the kind of contract that meant they'd have to give him a fortune if things went bad. Then they went bad. I would say that this is an example of government incompetence, but I've seen some golden parachutes in the private sector that are equally ridiculous. Yes, that includes radio.
