We Can Do Better. ANYONE Can Do Better

I've told you in the past about how Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa might be one of the worst big-city mayors in the country, and even this puff piece in the New York Times admits that he got off to a rocky start. But by carefully interviewing mostly his supporters or liberal commentators to praise the job he's done or to blame factors outside his control for all the problems in the city, the article comes off as a promotional release pushing the mayor for national office. In fact, you could look at this article as the first shot to make him America's first Latino president in 2016. If that's the case, I would hope that people look past the photo opportunities that he loves so much and listen to the substance of what he says and look at what he's done. Once you do, you'll realize that this guy is an empty suit and his performance has been abysmal. Unless a mayor who travels the world for publicity opportunities, has affairs with reporters, and takes free tickets for sporting events and concerts while overlooking horrible schools, a police force that's being ordered to be hands-off with illegal immigrants, hopeless traffic, and corruption throughout local government sound appealing to you, that is.
