Jim Boeheim is hopping mad at, of all people, Education Secretary (and former basketball player) Arne Duncan. Why? Because Duncan included Syracuse on the list of schools with low graduation rates. Boeheim says that the school's eligible to play, and that's all there is. He has objections to the APR system that penalizes schools with low graduation rates, and he insists that 'Cuse is doing fine. But that raises anew the topic of what the players are really there for. Because, despite those NCAA PSAs they play incessantly on March Madness coverage, at the big basketball schools, many aren't there to learn. And that, in turn, raises the topic of paying the players.
