On The Other Hand, Does It Matter What Some Soccer Player Says, Ever?
-
Colin Clark of the Houston Dynamo soccer team has apologized after getting caught on TV hurling a gay slur at a ball boy. He used the "other F-word," in case you need to know that. His apology said, "I didn't mean to disrespect anyone and am sorry for letting my emotions get the best of me. It's not who I am and it won't happen again." Except that he DID mean to disrespect the kid and gays, and it probably IS who he is, because, well, if it's not part of who you are, it won't "slip out." So, is there an apology that could possibly be sincere (rather than one that's more based in career-protection panic)? (Houston Chronicle)
