Give Us Your Tired, Your Poor... Not These Guys, Though

This is an uncommonly detailed article about one of the increasingly frequent illegal immigrant boats washing ashore around here, and in this case it tells exactly who were among the 14 illegal immigrants who came ashore at El Segundo and were only caught because they were a) seen and b) unlucky enough to land where a fence blocked their way to the main road. The 14 included people with rap sheets that included "burglary, robbery, spousal abuse, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin and LSD, weapons possession, animal cruelty, assault with a deadly weapon, attempted murder and murder." That's who's trying to get in, and there are "safe houses" established in the community to help them assimilate and stay here -- once they make it to the safe houses, they're in. And for every bust like this, there have to be other incidents that are successful. (Daily Breeze, Torrance)
