Let Them Eat Watercress

Want a Subway $5 footlong? Can't get one in San Francisco: The cost of doing business is too high. A boost in the "living wage" rate to over ten bucks an hour was the final straw; signs in the windows at all Subway shops in the city say that the national promotion doesn't apply there (except for one featured sub a month -- it's tuna this month). I'm sure that the voters there don't care, because they like to support local shops where you can get better sandwiches on whole-grain artisan bread for just eight or nine bucks. But where are the people who actually MAKE that minimum "living wage" going to be able to afford to eat? (SF Weekly)
