Bet You Don't Even Know What Channel It's On
-
Endangered due to budget cute: community access cable television channels. Supporters are looking to Congress to restore funding for these channels, which raises the question: Does anyone other than the elderly and infirm ever, ever WATCH those things? Seriously, before the local public access channel went away, it was generally blank, and our government-access channels have nothing but deadly boring council meetings, speeches at the Peninsula Senior Center, and this weird exercise show for the elderly that tends to involve exercise balls and chairs. I think this is one of those things that sounds better than it is. Who can be against more coverage of local issues? But most access programming is unwatchable, and they want you to pay for more.
