It's Easier When You Don't Offer People Rights And Freedom

Here's an admiring article about how successful Cuba's campaign against AIDS has been. Why, they have the lowest infection rate in the region, one-sixth of America's! Wonderful! Well, not so fast -- the article mentions, then glosses over, the fact that part of the reason for the low rate is that they quarantined all HIV+ people up to 1993. Hey, bygones, right? Seriously, they took draconian and inhuman measures. It's like saying that you're curing the common cold if you execute everyone who has the sniffles. (New York Times)
