Reading about the TSA selling stuff it takes from travelers at security checkpoints is a little disturbing, not when they talk about stuff like sharp tools that you obviously can't take with you on a plane but when they're selling things like benign little souvenirs that can't really be considered weapons at all. A miniature baseball bat like they sell at any major league ballpark? How is that a danger? And it reminds me that it seems really stupid for there not to be, right there at the checkpoint, a way to send the stuff via, say, FedEx or UPS back home. Slap a small surcharge on the shipping price and the TSA could probably earn enough to pay for a lot of its operation. Instead, if you make the mistake of putting something you don't even know is there in your carry-on, they just take it and sell it for a buck in Harrisburg, PA. (Philadelphia Inquirer)
