We Paid, So Why Isn't It Going Away?

Palisades Park, NJ erected a monument to the "Comfort Women," the mostly Korean women forced against their will to provide, well, you know, "comfort" to the Japanese troops during World War II. And recently, representatives of the Japanese government showed up at the Mayor's office to ask that the monument be removed, because, well, the Japanese government feels that their apology and reparations is enough, no need to reopen the ol' war wounds. The city said no. As well they shouldn't: Removing the monument won't remove history. (New York Times)
