Get Back Out In The Blistering Sun Where You Belong
-
Here's a high school track athlete, one of the region's top stars, disqualified for the mortal sin of standing under a tent to get out of the heat. That's pretty much it. The tent was there for the awards ceremony, someone told him to get out, he didn't, and that was enough to disqualify him from the championships. Whatever he may have done, this seems like one of those examples of how adults screw up kids' athletics. When I was in P.A.L. and Little League ball, there were always league officials interfering in things, engineering some teams to win and others to lose, and even directing officiating to favor the teams they wanted to make sure would win. They live through the kids. It's pathetic. (WTXF-TV/Philadelphia)
