A woman says she was given a hard time by a pilot for wearing a t-shirt onto a flight which read "If I wanted the government in my womb, I’d f--k a senator." The pilot said she shouldn't have been allowed to board and would have to change before getting her connecting flight, which she missed. She seems to be insinuating that it was because of her pro-choice politics, but the airline says that it was because of the F-word. Here's the thing: On a First Amendment level, sure, she should be allowed to wear that. An airplane, however, isn't a First Amendment locale (unless it's a government plane); the airline is a private company. And there's one more issue: decorum. Even with the right to say whatever you want, was it necessary to drop the F-bomb? I'm not offended by the word, but I wonder about the lack of class and tact by some people these days. Crude language has its place, but someone who wears a shirt like that is just spoiling for a fight. (MSNBC)
