What better way to burnish your company's image than for your distributors to disrupt a breast cancer fundraiser, right? That's what some Boar's Head distributors did in Florida when they heard that a competitor was holding a "taste test" fundraiser; the distributors stormed in with 20 or 30 trucks to challenge the test, and... whoops. There wasn't a taste test. In the meantime, the trucks stormed in and blocked parking lots. They claim that they didn't know it was a fundraiser, which doesn't explain why they wore pink ribbons like the store clerks. And they did some damage to the Boar's Head brand, which the corporate PR flack's excuses and denials aren't helping. Thanks to Dave Elliott at WGUF/Naples-Ft. Myers for the link.
