Even Last Place Teams Get To Party
-
Here's another story of athletes behaving badly, this time three members of Major League Soccer's Toronto FC arrested for alleged drunken behavior at a Houston nightclub. The topic here involves the fact that the team is going through a horrific season, and how fans expect that the players take losing as hard as they do. Any time a team is doing poorly, you'll find fans complaining when they hear about players doing anything other than either practicing or sulking in their hotel rooms, vowing to do better. The fact is, however, that players are human, and playing is their job. They probably don't care about winning and losing as much as the fans do. And if you're on a that losing streak, there's a good chance you're going to want to go out and get drunk and blow off steam. That doesn't excuse what they did, not at all, but it does point out the different expectations of fans and the people whose job it is to play the games. (Toronto Sun)
