Don't Want To Get Caught? Don't Cheat
-
It's funny that the big Nationals-Rays brouhaha, in which the Nationals, knowing that their former reliever Joel Peralta used to keep a little pine tar in his glove to illegally doctor the ball, told the umps now that he's on the Rays and got him thrown out of the game, is pretty much what happened in 2005, when the Nationals did the same move against the Angels' Brendan Donnelly, based on information from Donnelly's former teammate Jose Guillen. The Angels were incensed then, the Rays now. They think the Nats are breaking an unwritten rule that you don't rat out a former teammate. But you're not supposed to cheat, no? And if you knew that someone you used to work with has a penchant for cheating, and it's going to negatively affect you, you're saying you wouldn't bring it to anyone's attention? (Washington Post)
