Environmentalism and animal rights vs. practicality: A Utah town has been overrun by prairie dogs, but attempts to exterminate the rodents have been resisted by those who want to protect the animals as endangered. The trouble is that a) they've created havoc all over town, including burrowing through a cemetery and collapsing tombstones, plus causing the local airport's runway to need a massive deep fence to stop them from destroying it, and b) they're no longer endangered, but the upgrade to "threatened" doesn't change things. Nature advocates say that the rodents are a part of a delicate ecosystem. But they're destroying another ecosystem. (Fox News)
