Galaga Was Good, Too
-
As part of the Atari 40th anniversary, here's a profile of a woman who was a pioneer for females in the game programming industry, Dona Bailey, who was a computer geek at GM when she heard the Pretenders song "Space Invader," got into the video game because of it, and ended up working for Atari, which is all interesting enough and can lead to a topic about women in male-dominated fields, but that's less interesting to me than the fact that she was one of the four-person team that created Centipede, which was, for a while, my arcade game of choice. I spent a lot of quarters on Centipede (and Dig Dug, a non-Atari game). Damn thing was addictive, and it was partly her fault. I should thank her. (I have it on my iPad and iPhone, too. STILL addictive) What was your game poison of choice back in the day? (AP via KNXV-TV/Phoenix)
