That's Okay, Boys, It's Not Your Fault That You Suck

This is an interesting short item about Chad Qualls, whose short tenure in the Phillies bullpen was marked by his sucking out loud. But now that he's somehow landed with the Yankees (failing upward, indeed), he makes a good point about the way, as he says, "losing was getting to everybody." When a formerly good team hit by injuries starts to lose, it feeds on itself. Players start to press, and they play even worse. The thing keeps spiraling, which is what's happening to the Phillies. How do you break that spiral? Is that the manager's fault, is there a lack of leadership amongst the players, or is it just that they're not very good to begin with? (MLB.com)
