They'd Like You To Give Up
-
A study says that the Hollywood "rags to riches" story is a myth, because only 4% of people growing up in the bottom fifth of the household income statistics climb up to the top fifth. But what this doesn't show is how many actually TRY to make it, or what they do to get there. Sure, few make it, but that's because -- surprise -- it's hard. It's hard in any society. And they discount having more income and a better lifestyle higher up on the economic ladder because, relative to others on the ladder, it's no big thing. I just suspect that these statistics don't really tell the whole story. (MSNBC)
