At Least They Refunded The Baggage Fees

An 81-year-old blind Francophone passenger went nutzoid on a Spirit Airlines flight from LAX to Fort Lauderdale, swinging his arms at other passengers, and the plane made an emergency landing at Houston, where he was removed from the plane. That was only the beginning. The plane then sat on the tarmac at Houston and... waited. And waited. And waited, all without air conditioning for two hours until, finally, they were allowed to get off... and then were told that they would be bused five hours to Dallas, because Spirit said it couldn't fly out of Houston with that crew (having already worked too long). Finally, after a near-riot, the airline flew a new plane with a fresh crew to Houston to ferry the passengers to Florida. All told, it took them 19 hours to make the trip. And all because nobody on the crew spoke French and nobody thought to ask any of the other passengers if THEY spoke French, so they could communicate with the guy. You'd be as upset as these passengers, too. But you fly Spirit, you get what you pay for. (WPLG-TV/Miami)
