Tougher Than Any MMA Fighter

I think the most interesting thing about the passing of popular KOMO-TV/Seattle anchor Kathi Goertzen is that while battling brain tumors for 14 years, she fought her battles in public. This was someone who'd been on the station since her college graduation, who was extremely well-known locally, and who'd have been forgiven had she decided to go private with her health troubles, which involved benign tumors that invaded her body and finally took her ability to breathe. Yet she went on the air, showing even the nerve damage that affected half of her face. She was unafraid to take her health problems public, and that's huge for anyone who's experienced what it's like to be seriously ill; when a public figure stands up and shows herself and all her problems without apology or fear, it's an inspiration, And she was.
