Jim'll Fix It... Oh, Wait, Too Late For That
-
Sir Jimmy Savile died a year ago, and he was a beloved TV and radio star in the UK, a goofball known for his "Jim'll Fix It" show, charity work, white hair, and devotion to his mother (living with her, never married, keeping her stuff as if she was still alive after she died). As I said, it's been a year, and here comes the scandal: Several women are coming forward claiming that he sexually abused them when they were teenagers. A documentary on ITV has all the dirt, but the BBC says that it has no evidence of abuse and only one complaint was filed when he was alive. The issue is timing, either way: Is it fair to wait until a guy's dead and can't defend himself? Is it too soon for this? On the other hand, should there ever be a "right" and "wrong" time for justice? (Daily Telegraph)
