Cable internet providers are looking to do what wireless carriers are doing and put caps on Internet usage, tiering data service and charging a lot more when you go over. They tried to claim that this was to relieve congestion, and that was bull; they will admit when pressed that they have no such problem. Then they went with the "most people don't go near the cap level" argument, but you KNOW that we're ALL using more and, with the move to streaming video, it'll only get worse. The REAL reason they're doing it? BECAUSE THEY CAN. And because, in most places, there's no real competition. It's the cable company or nothing. (USA Today)
