That's Enough To Pay For One Hell Of A Vacation
-
If I don't use vacation days, I lose them. So do most of you. If you're a California state employee, and, most likely, an employee for your state and local governments (including teachers), you can save them up and cash them in. Asked about the massive payouts (we're talking pushing a billion dollars in California alone in 2009-11; one state psychiatrist cashed in $608.821 in unused comp and vacation days, while a doctor and a coupe of dentist weren't far behind)), the governor's office claimed they make workers take vacation before the days pile up, but the numbers don't lie. And because the public employee unions own the legislators, this won't be fixed. (San Jose Mercury News)
