Here's a whole article about the continuing popularity of tater tots. Yes. For some reason, they've been gaining in popularity -- some of the top gourmet food trucks out here in the food truck renaissance that's spreading to cities across the country offer tots with fancy dipping sauces. What I didn't know is that they only date back to 1953, invented by F. Nephi Grigg as a way to use otherwise-useless potato scraps from the French fry making process at Ore-Ida. The rest is addictively greasy history. (Chicago Tribune)
