Because School Isn't Supposed To Be Fun
-
The Skokie/Morton Grove School District 69 in suburban Chicago has banned school Halloween parties because of the vague threat that some kids would feel "uncomfortable." What? No candy, no costumes, no nothing? They're clearly worried about religious objection, because they reference parents keeping their kids at home rather than have them participate in such a Pagan rite. Look, I'll say this as someone born without the cosplay or trick-or-treating genes and who was, as a kid, as uncomfortable with Halloween on a non-religious basis as any kid can be: I would still rather have Halloween in schools than not. I mean, it's candy. Period. Nothing Satanic. Please. (Chicago Tribune)
