The Bills Just Keep On Comin'

Big problem: A lot of homes that were flooded in Sandy don't have flood insurance -- they were on higher ground and normally don't NEED flood insurance. Or they're only required to carry flood insurance if they're mortgaged, but they may not be carrying a mortgage anymore. And, worst, even if you ARE covered, if the damage to your house could have been caused by two different things and you're not covered for one of the two, the insurer can say you aren't covered unless you can PROVE the damage was from the covered event. So... this could get as financially ugly as it was physically awful. (NBC News)
