Because You Don't Have A Choice
-
Subscribers are suing Time Warner Cable for suddenly instituting a $4 monthly modem fee. The cable company is instituting the fee because... It can. Really, how much could a cable modem be costing them, purchased in bulk? How long would it take to amortize it at four bucks a month, after which it's pure profit, and the consumer doesn't even own the thing. It's what he phone company used to do when you weren't allowed to buy your own phone. (Portland Press Herald)
