Does That Count Against Sick Days Or Vacation Days?

How expensive it's gotten: employers are making deals so that if employers need certain surgeries, the employer will send the workers on all-expenses-paid trips to out-of-state hospitals that agree to low fixed rates for the surgery. It's cheaper to send a worker across the country with his or her spouse, put them up at a nice hotel, and arrange for the surgery at a previously-negotiated rate than to do it the usual way. But do ou want our employer involved in medical decisions? Do you even want the boss to know you're ailing? (Los Angeles Times)
