An Answer In Search Of A Question

Ever see a store where you're not sure what the point of it is? That's what American shoppers have thought about British grocery giant Tesco's Fresh and Easy stores, which are mostly in California and are small stores like Trader Joe's-sized, but with name brands, a small selection, and lots of prepared foods, which, I suppose, WAS the point -- you can run in, grab something that's already cooked and ready to heat-and-eat for dinner, and run out after using the self-checkout (no clerks). But people just aren't seeing the need for that, so Tesco is, after five years, hinting that they'll close the chain or sell it. I hope not -- we just got one near me and I like the convenience -- but they really did misjudge the market. What other stores mystify you as to why they exist? (Daily Breeze, Torrance)
