Gee, Why Didn't She Press The 'Like' Button?

A woman in Atlanta is upset that the police informed her of her son's death on Facebook. It's not just the medium, it's that after what appears to be a token effort to find her by traditional means, they sent a message under an unfamiliar name -- "Misty Hancock" -- which, as Facebook handles messages from non-friends, went into an "Other" folder that the mom never checked, so she didn't know for a month while she searched for her missing son. Social media's great for some communication, but for the police to inform people of their loved ones' death? (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
