Truthiness Is All That Matters
-
Man, we're seeing newspapers and TV stations running a LOT of stories without confirmation these days. The other day, we read about the hoax viral video accepted as real by countless news organizations. Today, here's a New York Times story about an elderly man stirringly not allowing being brutally mugged to stop him from taking the subway, and it turns out he wasn't mugged. He tripped and fell. There was a witness. But he somehow started to tell people that he was mugged, and that's what the Times reported. Why didn't they check with police, or wait until the police were finished with the investigation? (New York Times)
